Our Camps

Over the past 9 years, the Black Hills Hockey Academy has been a fixture in the South Dakota Summer Hockey Scene. BHHA athletes have gone on to have great success at local and also national hockey levels.  We believe in reinvesting into the local minor hockey programs. Your commitment to the BHHA has allowed us to do so.  Since we started, the BHHA has been able to donate over $12,500.00 back to local minor hockey teams and programs.  We look forward to working with you again in 2019!

August Supercamp

Now in our ninth season, this is the week long camp that brought the Black Hills Hockey Academy to life. It is also the reason that the BHHA has gained the reputation of being one of South Dakota and the surrounding states premier hockey schools .

During this camp we will be on the ice for an hour per day. Along with these morning sessions, students will occasionally be required to complete hockey related "homework" such as dryland puck handling exercises between ice sessions.  This year we will again have 2 groups that will be capped at 16 skaters per group. There are no goalies in the spring skills sessions. In this camp we will be working on skating and puck-handling skills more in depth than we can during the week long Supercamp alone. This years camp will also have an emphasis on body contact. Being able to give and receive checks properly. These ice sessions are perfect for both the average player looking to take their game to the next level, and for the advanced player that is looking for that edge on their competition. It is not recommended for beginners.

There is the chance that Riley Weselowski will still be in Florida for playoffs during the first two weeks of the Spring Skills Camp. If that is the case, other instructors will be brought in to teach weeks one and two.  These will be very capable instructors that will each provide a unique perspective to a particular area of the game. I will be in contact with the camps participants leading up to the beginning of the camp to let everyone know exactly what the plan is and who will be running each session.

The cost of this camp is $395 if you are not registered for the August Super Camp. And $350 if you are!

Pre-Season Conditioning Camp

The pre-season camp runs from the  last week of August through the first week of October. This camp is recommended for athletes born in 2010 and older and will include 6 weeks of (2) ice sessions per week. There are two groups that will be capped at 26 skaters and 4 goalies per group. Instructors will challenge the young skaters with high tempo drills that will focus on puck movement and completing tasks at a high tempo. By pushing the athletes to levels of play they didn't know they were capable of, this camp will pay dividends when it comes time for try outs in October.

TESTIMONIALS

“As a parent, I liked the length of camp and ice time for the money I paid. I also really appreciated the meals being included and that they were healthy for the kids - THANKS! Sara enjoyed them, too! We will be coming back next year and will recommend it to fellow players in the Pierre area.”

-Carla Bachand, Pierre, SD

"Last year was our son Jacksons first year at the Black Hills Hockey Academy Camp.  Jackson was excited to go every day and came home eager to show off some of his new skills.  Jackson not only learned more about playing hockey but his self confidence and love for hockey shot through the roof!"
